Where to start on explaining about the genesis my world? I suppose it all started when my cousin Larry taught me to play Dungeons and Dragons. I’ve always had a vivid and varied imagination. Soon after learning how to play, I wanted to tell my own tales. So I started to create the world of Kitish, and more specifically the continent of Kith thirty three years ago. All such endeavors begin at one point, and mine started off as merely the city of Tholomar and the immediate surroundings. As time went on, I expanded the world to include a variety of areas, nations and cities. However, it lacked something that at the time I could not pin down. It was not until I read history and books on ancient cultures/societies that it started to click. Now mind you, I was the tender age of fourteen. I became ravenous for more history/culture books and soon my school library held fewer and fewer books I had not checked out. With the concept of cultures and history I began to flesh out my world even more. Soon it had character, color, ideals and beliefs. To this day, I still work on these ideas to keep the world “alive” and vibrant. At some point about seven years ago, I really wanted to share my world with more people than just the guys in the gaming group. So I thought I could put it online and made progress towards that goal. Then disaster struck – my computer’s hard drive fried and I lost a lot of information I had prepared. So I started rewriting the lost material in hopes of eventually posting it online. A starter website went up a a number of years ago but I felt dissatisfied with it. It’s appearance and general set up bothered me. Luckily my girl friend is a technoqueen and has been helping out. So here we are and I’m starting to post new entries and would love ultimately to write novels about my world. I’ve started a short story but it always seems on the back burner. My goal is to have it finished by January 2017.
What to say about myself? I could say a lot but I’ll stick with this for now. I was born in upstate New York and ran the wilds with out too many cares. As I got older (okay I started playing at 9 years old) I started to game, and imagine a thousand possibilities. I rendered my ideas in art, maps, verbal stories and studied hard in school. After high school I went to SUNY Cobleskill and my sophomore year transferred to Cornell University. After graduating, I stuck around beautiful Ithaca and the Finger Lakes region for three years. Then in 1997 I moved to Portland, OR. It was not an easy decision and the trip across the grand United States was an adventure on it’s own. I’ve come to love the Pacific North West and currently am employed as a Certified Vet Tech.
